DEXTER, MI — Zingerman’s Cornman Farms is offering a variety of virtual workshops all through January 2021.

The Dexter-based event space and farm is offering everything from cooking classes with executive chef and founder Kieron Hales to wine-tasting and floral workshops, according to a news release.

Tickets cost $35 to $125 for the classes, which the company may extend into following months.

Classes include:

Virtual Cooking Class: How To Roast a Chicken

Date and time: 5:30-7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021.

Cost: $40, purchase here

Description: Chef Kieron will teach you how to prepare a roasted chicken. Attendees will learn how to brine, break down and roast the chicken, as well as several other recipes using each part of the bird. Guests will also learn tips and tricks to ensuring the white and dark meat are cooked to perfection. There will be room for questions in the last 15 to 20 minutes of the class. No ingredients or pick-up are included. Attendees will receive a Zoom link with login instructions.

Virtual Cooking Class with Kids: MLK Day Pancake Breakfast

Date and time: 10-11:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 18, 2021.

Cost: $35, purchaser here

Description: Chef Kieron will teach guests how to make “top notch” savory and sweet pancakes, as well as using leftover batter for cupcakes. You will receive a Zoom link and have the opportunity to ask Chef Kieron questions as we work through the recipes. There will be room for questions in the last 15 to 20 minutes of the class.

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr., Zingerman’s will donate 10% of every ticket to The Conscious Kid, a group focused on “promoting healthy racial identity development in youth,” according to their website.

Virtual Wine Tasting: Wines of Italy

Date and time: 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29, 2021.

Cost: $60, purchase here

Description: Elisa Weber-Saintin, founder of Little Guy Wine Company, will host a series of wine tasting classes. Attendees will taste three wines and Elisa will talk through the wines, as well as educate guests about the details of wine tasting. Tickets include Le Calcinaie Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Tuscany 2019, FUSO21 Walter Massa Barbera, Piedmont 2019, Salustri Ciliegiolo, Tuscany 2018 and worksheets.

Pick up is at 8540 Island Lake Road in Dexter on Friday, Jan. 29 from 2-5 p.m.

Great British Baking: Afternoon Crumpets and Tea Virtual Cooking Class

Date and time: 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021.

Cost: $125, purchase here. The ticket is on sale for $100 until the end of the year.

Description: Chef Kieron will teach you to make proper crumpets, strawberry, black pepper and rosemary jam, port and pear compote, and the perfect cup of tea. Guests will also receive a jar of Cornman Farms clotted cream and honey butter to spread on the crumpets, or to be used as a strainer for loose leaf tea.

Virtual Floral Arrangements Workshop with Wildscape Floral Co.

Date and time: 4-5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021.

Cost: $85, purchase here.

Description: Chelsea Hohn from Wildscape Floral Co. will teach guests how to create an artful and lasting arrangement with fresh florals, using sustainable techniques and tips.

Tickets include one floral kit and one Cornman Farms take-and-bake chocolate runny cake. Guests will need scissors or clean garden shears, and water.
