Last Saturday marked the first day of spring. The weather has been outstanding, except for the rain. We can dodge around those rain drop with the outstanding temperatures out in the wineries. Several wineries are hosting outdoor events such as concerts. Below are a few of those outdoor concerts:
Saturday, March 27 – Enjoy the acoustic sounds of Mike Gallo for free at Bernhardt Winery from 1:30 to 5:30
April 9 – Nick and the Grove, a dance band play at Wild Stallion Winery.
Saturday, April 10 – Enjoy the musical sounds of Guthrie Jones on the patio of West Sandy Creek Winery.
Sunday, April 11 – Double Vision plays a fun Journey Tribute Concert to kick off the Bernhardt Sunday Evening Concert Series.
Sunday afternoon, April – James Zimmerman entertains on the courtyard of West Sandy Creek Winery.
Saturday afternoon, April 17 – Country singer Byron Haynie will entertain you at West Sandy Creek Winery.
Saturday, April 17 – Two Tons of Steel brings their music to Wild Stallion Winery.
Sunday, April 18 – Texas Music Icon, Shake Russell brings some of his friends to entertain you at the Bernhardt Winery for the Sunday Evening.
Saturday, April 24 – Enjoy Kyle Mathis at West Sandy Creek Winery.
Sunday, April 25 – ESCAPE provide a Journey Tribute Concert at Bernhardt Winery.
April 30 – Endless Summer Experience Concert at Wild Stallion Winery.
Sunday, May 2 – Already Gone plays an Eagles Tribute Concert at Bernhardt Winery.
Sunday, May 9 – Gentle Lamb Experience bring MoTown to Bernhardt Winery.
Sunday, May 16 – Walkin’ the Line has a Johnny Cash Tribute at Bernhardt Winery.
Sunday, May 23 – The Beatles invade the Bernhardt Winery via the FAB FIVE.
Sunday, May 30 – A Memorial Day Weekend Concert features Double Vision playing a fun Journey Tribute Concert.
Bring your friends, family, and a thirst for good Texas music and wines. These wineries will offer cheese trays, charcutterie boards, and other foods to pair with their wines. Bring your lawn chairs, but don’t bring in outside wine since that is against the law.
With the weather so nice, now is a great time to enjoy wine out on the back veranda with your best friends. Invite friends over for a night of sipping and socializing Try blind wine tasting with other couples. Select a grape varietal like Sauvignon Blanc or Viognier or perhaps a Rose’. Give each couple a number to mark on the outside of a brown bag which covers the entire bottle except for where you need to pour. Sip wines and openly talk about the “good, the bad, and the ugly” on those unknown wines.
Keep a running tab of the comments with a “BEST WINE” to be selected by a consensus of the “blind wine tasters” making their choices and rankings. While tasting blind, try different snacks to determine what foods go with each of the numbered wines. There are no rules in these fun blind tastings outdoors with friends, except you have to have fun. Wines like people have different personalities. Some personalities jive with your tastes and some don’t! That is a part of the fun.
