The mushrooms are out and the hunt is on. Yum! As the weather gets cooler it’s time to get out and try some foraging in the beautiful countryside around Oberon. You can try and spot them in the wild yourself (be careful you don’t pick out something deadly) or take part in a tour that starts from Hampton. Tickets include a barbecue lunch (with ‘shrooms on the menus, of course) and tips on finding, preparing and preserving the fungi. After a stellar performance at last year’s Inland Sea of Sound festival, talented singer-songwriter Imogen Clark will return to Bathurst with a set of honest, pop-infused rock tunes. She’ll be at The Victoria Bathurst on Saturday, March 27. Doors to the event will open at 6pm. Tickets cost $15 and are available from www.thevictoriabathurst.com.au. What will you spot this year when Sculptures by the Bush springs to life? A cartoon character, recycled metal animals … or funky mailboxes. It’s quite the sight to see, and there will be a digital map for you to follow. There are three categories – hay bale art, farm art and scarecrows. Which will be your favourite? School holidays, April 11-18. Various around Blayney Shire. Fancy putting in an entry? Entries close on Sunday 28 March with judging on Thursday April 1. Check with the council for details.
