In a strategic partnership to build opportunities to support the Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus (PSGMC), Bouschet will host a fundraising wine tasting event on Friday, Feb. 26, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., which will be a combination virtual and in-person experience at 611 South Palm Canyon, Palm Springs, in the Sun Center.
Building on the success of 22 seasons, PSGMC has skillfully transitioned into a virtual chorus with initiatives that have driven community outreach to nonprofits over the last few months. Programs included providing 1,000 PPE masks made for Eisenhower Health and school supplies collection for Coachella Valley Elementary, raising more than $2,500 for the Desert AIDS Walk supporting DAP Health, holding a clothing and toiletries drive for Well in the Desert to support the homeless and, through the “Chorus Cares” program, a food and essential supplies campaign and a holiday toy drive both for Martha’s Village & Kitchen.
“The Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus is fortunate to have generous donors, partners and volunteers who have all helped us build strong and long-lasting relationships with many businesses in the valley,” said Steve Baker, a first tenor and president of PSGMC. “We look forward to having an enjoyable wine tasting event to thank our supporters and invite new friends to engage with the chorus. Our members will soon be back on stage, enabling us to continue to do what we love to do, entertain the Coachella Valley.”
The event will showcase the expertise of Roth Mendoza, wine representative from Browne Family Vineyards, and Lisa Wherry, certified wine specialist from Wine Gal Consulting. They’ll provide insight into the wines while comparing their uniqueness to other wines in the marketplace in terms of their style, how they’re blended and the regions in which the grapes are grown.
Tickets for the event are $40 per person and include Wine Spectator magazine’s highly rated varietals: 2017 Browne Chardonnay, Columbia Valley; 2019 Browne Grenache Rose; 2017 Browne “Family Vineyards” Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley; 2018 Browne “Bitner Estate” Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, and 2017 Browne “Tribute” Red Bordeaux Blend, Columbia Valley.
Zoom and in-person attendees will also be treated to a charcuterie sampling of Sage Derby and Derby Port cheese, Manchego cheese, Genoa Italian salami, specialty crackers, apricot spread, house-made cashews and olive medley presented by Bouschet’s Chef Tig of Tig & Co. The tasting package can be picked up at Bouschet prior to the tasting.
For more information or to purchase tickets, call (760) 219-2077 or visit psgmc.com and click on the “Wine Tasting!” button.
The mission of the PSGMC is to be a chorus of gay men who, through musical excellence, community outreach and civic responsibility, are dedicated to entertaining, inspiring and educating the culturally diverse community in which we live.
