You worked hard your whole life, and you deserve to have a happy and fulfilling retirement.
That is the mindset employees at Kelowna’s Okanagan Chateau Retirement Residence go to work with every day, and it is what sets the facility apart from the rest of them.
Okanagan Chateau has every feature anyone in retirement could possibly want. There is a gym with a fully trained exercise expert. There is a library, a games room, a theatre, a restaurant-style food area, and an atrium common space. There is a leisure consultant who offers a full list of programs to keep residents hopping all day long if they prefer. A concierge is always there to help with anything anyone needs.
None of that would matter, however, if the people running the facility didn’t have the residents’ best interests at heart. And those who work at Okanagan Chateau care deeply about those who are living within their walls.
“It’s the people. I’m a true believer that I’ve really hired the right people to make a difference,” Okanagan Chateau general manager Megan McManus says. “Anybody can have these features. It’s just a building. But to make it a true home, make sure that you have the right people to be caring individuals and do the job.”
McManus says her staff’s mission is to make every resident feel as comfortable as possible. The programming features plenty of group activity, but if you’re not a people person you do not have to participate or can do so individually.
“We are looking at making sure that there is something to stimulate all of you,” McManus says. “If you’re a person who doesn’t like to be in group activities, we’re going to make an activity for you to do in your apartment.”
Okanagan Chateau is all about independent living, so it’s for people who are looking to get out of shovelling the walk in the winter but still want to live on their own. Throw in the long list of activities that are there for the taking, and who could ask for anything more?
When COVID-19 isn’t restricting society’s movements, Okanagan Chateau residents can go on wine tasting tours, hikes and many other outdoor adventures. The building is a stone’s throw from Orchard Park Shopping Centre, and Mission Creek Regional Park is just down the road.
“We believe in active living,” McManus said. “Keeping the mind, body and soul healthy and happy is my goal.”
And speaking of COVID-19, Okanagan Chateau was at the forefront of the battle thanks to its vast resource network under the Sienna Living corporate umbrella. Okanagan Chateau always was—and remains—one step ahead to ensure the safety of its residents.
Always looking out for its residents. That’s what Okanagan Chateau Retirement is all about.
“There’s no reason why you shouldn’t have a great day,” McManus says. “You worked hard all your life. This is your retirement. Enjoy it.”
