The return of much-loved Bay Area food and wine festivals, such as the Livermore Valley’s Taste Our Terroir celebration, is one of the happiest, normal-est things to emerge this summer.
Livermore’s annual wine festival went virtual in 2020, but this year’s wine-centric hoopla — slated for July 22-25 — is back in real-life style with nine in-person events ranging from winemaker dinners to an electric bike tour, plus two virtual tastings on July 22 and 23, so you can enjoy some vineyard fun from home, too.
Among the highlights: A “Fire and Folklore” evening ($49) on June 22 brings guests to the McGrail Vineyard fire pits for wine, s’mores, acoustic music and stories from Mark Clarin of McGrail Vineyards and Karl Wente of Wente Vineyards.
A “Bike the Vines” day has you pedaling your way — on an electric Pedego bike — to four wineries for wine tastings, brunch bites, a picnic lunch and a dessert and wine pairing from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. July 24. Tickets are $199.
On July 25, you can do yoga and sip wine ($25) at Bent Creek Winery, dabble in cheese pairings at “Curds & Wine” ($75) at Las Positas Vineyards or enjoy “Brunch Bites and Flights” ($55) at Garré Winery.
