Cy-Hope is a nonprofit organization that raises money to benefit at-risk children in Cy-Fair. The group frequently distributes food to those in need each week among other service projects. Larry Dierker, the former Major League Baseball pitcher, announcer and manager of the Houston Astros, serves as an Advisor to the Cy-Hope organization.

Wine room offers tasting class
Envy Wine Room presents a Get Wine Confident class at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 26. Tickets are $45.
Hosted by sommelier and French wine scholar Effie Stees, who owns Envy Wine Room, the class will introduce participants to the formal wine tasting method and will provide tips on pairing and getting the most out of each glass. The class is limited to 16 people or eight couples. Masks must be worn when not seated at your table.

Songwriter shares his pipedreams with brewery
Nash Daniels performs as Kerosene Pipedreams, a one-man band with an acoustic guitar at 1 p.m. on Feb. 27 at Lone Pint Brewery in Magnolia.
Daniels is a folk singer-songwriter with punk rock influences and stories of life, loss, and redemption. The Texas artist has been busy playing all over state lately from Bryan to Austin, Texarkana to Bellville.

Workshop aims to help people grow resilience
Lannie Cox, of Cy-Hope Counseling & Speech Therapy, presents a two-hour public workshop on Growing Resilience in Tough Times from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Feb. 27. The fee per person is $99, and attendance can be in person or virtually online.
Cox will provide tips for people who feel burned out and overwhelmed during these unusual times, and he hopes to help provide resources and evidence-based techniques to people so they can bounce back when life’s not fair.

Arcade celebrates music of Metallica
The Game Preserve in Spring presents Metallicade, an evening dedicated to Metallica, the masters of metal, from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Feb. 27. Admission is $15, $10 if you wear a Metallica shirt.
The arcade will play only Metallica with its videos on the jumbo screen while guests play video and pinball games from the 1980s and 1990s. Prizes will be awarded during the Metallica trivia contest. Admission includes unlimited game play.

The Tomball Farmers Market is open each Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
