Taste of Italy at Theo Randall | Eat & Drink

July 21, 2021 by ADSWineReporter

It may not be easy to travel to Italy this summer but that doesn’t mean we have to miss out on la dolce vita because Theo Randall is bringing Italy to us with his Taste of Italy menu at his restaurant at the InterContinental Hotel Park Lane. Taking inspo from his travels across the country, Theo has created a £50 four-course set menu, with wine pairing, that showcases a different region of Italy each month using seasonal ingredients to create classic dishes specific to each area.

The current menu is Veneto, and features the likes of beef carpaccio, fish stew with a tomato & fennel broth, and tiramisu, and from August it changes to the Emilia-Romagna menu, with dishes including sheep’s ricotta & parmesan tortelloni, roasted guinea fowl stuffed with marscapone with braised greens, and chocolate, rum & nut cake. Who’s ready for a little Italian getaway?

Grilled lamb cutlets, asparagus, horseradish & salsa verde by Skye Gyngell

July 20, 2021 by ADSWineReporter

In collaboration with Australian wine maker, Andrew Peace Wine, chef Skye Gyngell has launched a new summer barbecue and al fresco entertaining campaign. The concept is centred around a ‘boujie barbecue’ which is sophisticated, relaxed, and fuelled by fresh, simple ingredients, delivered in a style Skye Gyngell is well known for. Accompanied by wine pairing tips from Andrew Peace Wine, Skye Gyngell has shared a selection of recipes, including these grilled lamb cutlets with asparagus, horseradish, and salsa verde.

On the grilled lamb cutlets with asparagus, horseradish, and salsa verde, Skye Gyngell says: “Little lamb cutlets are delicious griddled or barbecued and cooked on the barbecue they are packed with flavour. Here they’re served with asparagus that can also be griddled over the coals. All the preparation can be done ahead and then it’s just a few minutes on the barbecue to create a stunning dish.”

Chef’s tips

“Make sure your meat is room temperature before you cook it – meat cooked straight from the fridge will take a lot longer.

“It’s really important to allow meat to rest once it is cooked – it will have a much better textures and flavour.

“The horseradish cream can be made the day before but salsa verde is best made on the day of eating as the herbs will keep their flavour a lot better.

“Both Horseradish cream and salsa verde are incredibly versatile and can be used to brighten and flavour vegetables, fish and meat.”

Andrew Peace Wine pairings

“Choose a red that works in summer and well placed for lamb; The Unexpected Red is an offbeat blend of three classics; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Tempranillo with Sagrantino, which work together to create a smooth and full-bodied wine that is a rich, deep blood-red garnet colour with flavours of blackcurrant, bright cherry and hints of spice and violet. It’s in selected Co-op stores and inexpensive at £6.75.”

Grilled lamb cutlets with asparagus, horseradish and salsa verde

A bbq recipe from chef Skye Gyngell.

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Resting time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 30 minutes

Course: Entrée, Main Course

Cuisine: Global

Keyword: Asparagus, BBQ, Lamb

Servings: 4

Author: Skye Gyngell

  • 12-16 little lamb cutlets
  • A little extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ lemon
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 12 asparagus spears

For the salsa verde

  • 1 tsp toasted ground cumin seeds
  • A bunch mint leaves only
  • A bunch basil leaves only
  • A bunch flat leaf parsley leaves only
  • A bunch rocket
  • ½ tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 anchovies
  • ½ tbsp capers
  • 1 clove garlic peeled and chopped
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 200 ml extra virgin olive oil

For the horseradish cream

  • 2 inches fresh horseradish root grated
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • A pinch sea salt
  • 180 ml creme fraîche

To make the horseradish cream

  • Place the grated horseradish into a bowl and pour over the red wine vinegar. Season with salt. Stir in the creme fraîche and place in the fridge until ready to use.

  • Place a large pot of well salted water on to boil. Trim the woody ends of the asparagus.

To make the lamb

  • Lay the lamb cutlets on a board. Season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper and brush with oil. Heat the barbecue or a griddle pan until smoking, and cook the cutlets for 1-2 mins per side.

  • While the cutlets are cooking blanch the asparagus by dropping it into the boiling, well salted water. Cook for 40 seconds – it should still have a nice bite. Alternatively, griddle on the barbecue alongside the meat.

  • Remove the cutlets from the grill and squeeze over the lemon juice. Let rest for a few minutes to allow the meat to relax.

To serve

  • This is a real star of a dish so invest in the prep so you can simply griddle the lamb and serve on the day.

  • Arrange the cutlets and asparagus on a serving plate, spoon over the salsa verde and serve the horseradish cream alongside.

NYC Restaurant Week’s best summer 2021 spots are now serving menus

July 19, 2021 by ADSWineReporter

New York City Restaurant Week, which is now live for dining, has been a twice annual tradition since 1992. When it first got cooking, the culinary holiday was celebrated with $19.92 lunch specials at restaurants like Tribeca Grill. Surprisingly, those midday meals only rose to $26 by 2020. What’s even wilder? This year’s prices have actually fallen. Sort of.

Summer 2021’s NYC Restaurant Week, which runs from July 19 through August 22, has three pricing tiers: $21, $39 and $125 for lunch or dinner. RW organizers advise restaurants to offer at least an entree and a side for the first two tiers, and the $125 ticket must include three or more courses plus a little something extra like wine.

This year, more than 500 participating Italian, Thai, Russian, Cuban, Spanish, French, Mexican, Indian, Brazilian and Japanese izakayas, ice cream parlors, steakhouses, fish bars, brasseries, bistros, grills, cafes and sushi restaurants decide which deals to offer when. And you decide how many of these marvelous options you can cram into four-and-a-half wonderful weeks. It’s a lot!

We’ve narrowed the field to the very best Restaurant Week destinations where you’ll get great food, have a good time, and might even want to book again. We’ll be expanding on these picks with more menu recommendations in the coming weeks.

The restaurant: One of our 50 best restaurants, and from the same team behind Dhamaka, one of this year’s best new openings, this highly-regarded Indian restaurant in Queens is the kind of place we always hope will join Restaurant Week.

Our prix-fixe pick: The dahi batata puri, tandoori gobi and dilliwala butter chicken for $39 at dinner Sunday-Friday.

The restaurant: Follow the clock tower to this cozy South Bronx spot where we’ve long been fans of the brunch and cocktails. Located in a one-time piano factory, its present interior is lined with exposed brick, leather banquettes and, in the evening hours, lit with a golden light that makes everyone seem to glow.

Our prix-fixe pick: We seldom see Restaurant Week spots catering to solo diners, so Charlies is worth a trip for its two-course meal for one: moules frites followed by seared steak with asparagus and mashed potatoes for $39 at dinner.

The restaurant: Depending on your mood, Gramercy tavern can feel power lunch-adjacent, Old New York-y, romantic or exclusive. It isn’t just a special occasion space reflecting your own occasion, it’s a special place, with history and personality and excellent food and drinks. We’re partial to the five-course tasting menu (which presently includes poached lobster and roasted duck and clocks in at $148) when we’re looking to make a night of it and Restaurant Week is the perfect time to get in for less cash.

Our prix-fixe pick: Gramercy Tavern joins RW for weeks three and four; check back for menus!

The restaurant: An East Village favorite since 2003, Hearth looks and feels like a restaurant in a film about NYC where nobody’s problems are that big of a deal but there are still a lot of long tracking shots set to moody music. It even retained its following after a slight concept redirect (no trans fats, hormones or antibiotics) a few years ago, which isn’t always a given.

Our prix-fixe pick: The chilled zucchini soup, beef and ricotta meatballs with cacio e pepe polenta and the honey panna cotta for $39 at lunch from Monday-Friday and dinner Saturday and Sunday. Hearth’s optional wine pairing is $26.

The restaurant: Add any one of Izakaya Jukaru’s 50 Japanese craft beers to your prix-fixe and we bet you’ll want to order a half-a-hundred more. Each one is eight to ten bucks, so this is a terrific option for getting tipsy without quadrupling your onigiri, ramen and karaage tab.

Our prix-fixe pick: The karaage, spicy ramen and the dorayaki for $39 at lunch and dinner from Tuesday-Sunday.

The restaurant: Ice cream? For summer? Groundbreaking! We don’t remember ever seeing an ice cream shop on any previous Restaurant Week roster and we’re terrifically excited for this new development! Mikey’s everyday flavors include strawberry cheesecake, mint fudge brownie and vegan blueberry hibiscus.

Our prix-fixe pick: Check back for menus!

The restaurant: Everybody knows Nobu, and even the most well-connected among us can’t pass up an opportunity to mention having recently been in all casual-like. It is also owned by Robert De Niro because in this town, if you can dream it, you can be it, baby! Very-known Nobu is particularly noteworthy for its Japanese/Peruvian menus.

Our prix-fixe pick: The yellowtail sashimi and black cod with eggplant miso for $39 at lunch from Monday-Friday.

The restaurant: Classic, dramatic and expansive but undesirably located in Midtown, when else are you going to visit The Russian Tea Room, where the caviar and Champagne pairings start at $275? After a show at Carnegie Hall?! Good idea! Do that, and do it now when you can get a taste of the Tea Room’s blini, blinchik and stroganoff for a song.

Our prix-fixe pick: Check back for menus!

The restaurant: Korean-French plates in a rustic-chic space that’s been accruing accolades since first opening in 2018.

Our prix-fixe pick: A bit of an outlier, the first four of Soogil’s five-course, $125 Signature Dining Experience are set. You’ll sample elaborate preparations of kampachi tartare with abalone and caviar, scallop, foie gras and short rib with a glass of wine, cocktail or sake at dinner from Wednesday-Saturday. Order the Jenga Tower for dessert.

The restaurant: Mercado Little Spain is the best part of the Hudson Yards Retail complex and Spanish Diner is a special piece of its pie right by the High Line. Its main menu includes bocatas and huevos five ways, four kinds of croquetas, a refreshing gazpacho and macarrones con chorizo. You’ll catch us there during sangria hour when glasses are $5 and $6.

Our prix-fixe pick: The ensalada de tomates, pollo guisado con arroz and the flan for $39 at lunch and dinner.

The restaurant: High ceilings and a glossy marbly bar make the downtown outpost of the Michelin starred Flatiron original feel like a breezy breath of fresh air. Its robust daily dinner menu includes a delicious chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, saag paneer and a special seafood plate with lobster, shrimp, scallops, sea bass and seasonal fish.

Our prix-fixe pick: The crab nazakat, tandori broccoli, gosht kali mirch and gulkand cheesecake for $39 at lunch.

The restaurant: One of the first spots to participate in NYC Restaurant Week back in 1992 (two years after it first opened), Tribeca Grill’s worth a peep to see what’s kept it a contender for three decades and counting.

Our prix-fixe pick: Chips, guac and salsa, mustard-glazed BBQ ribs with corn and potato salad and the fudge brownie for $39 at dinner Tuesday-Friday.

The restaurant: We’ve always associated Union Square Café with people who drink white wine out of giant glasses on like a Tuesday afternoon and perpetually appear to have just gotten their dry cleaning and sometimes it’s nice to feel that way, too! Skip work and swing by for dishes that could include hamachi crudo, burrata, several types of pasta or poached halibut.

Our prix-fixe pick: Check back for menus!

The restaurant: A neighborhood favorite with menus inspired by Spain and the coast of Italy, with a lengthy wine list and plenty of room to linger at the zinc bar or at tables inside and out.

Our prix-fixe pick: The bacalao croquettes, black spaghetti with octopus, scallops and mussels and the olive oil cake with berry compote and whipped cream for $39 at lunch and dinner.

The restaurant: One of the best restaurants of the year when it first opened in 2019, Wayan is highly designed with ornate details inside and out with Indonesian-French menu items to match. We’ve previously enjoyed its lobster noodles, dry-aged crescent duck and crab fried rice.

Our prix-fixe pick: The papua ceviche, assorted satays and lobster noodles with a welcome drink, beverage pairing and a visit to your table from the chef for $125.

Sky-high stay at The Ritz-Carlton

July 18, 2021 by ADSWineReporter

Check-in at The Ritz starts at 2pm. Between taking pictures and scanning the horizon with the telescope, you can practically use up all your afternoon in the room. But since I had Club Lounge access, I took advantage of its afternoon tea and enjoyed some light bites and a few glasses of bubbly while working on my laptop in one of the window-side lounges. It’s the kind of working environment you’d want to have on a daily basis.

The Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge

By 5pm, I was able to book a two-hour use of the swimming pool. Make sure you book as soon as you check-in, or even before checking in, so you can get a slot as it gets fully booked because of the current social distancing rule. This futuristic infinity pool makes you feel like you’re in the set of Black Mirror, replete with ceiling mirrors, a faux fireplace, a huge LED screen reflecting tropical and underwater sceneries, and bottom-to-ceiling glass windows that bring in Victoria Harbour views. Swimming here is very relaxing. And because it is indoor, it gives off a feeling that you are swimming in a capsule. You can just go by yourself and let the time pass by taking backstroke laps while watching reflections on the ceiling mirrors.

The Ritz-Carlton swimming pool

The two-hour dip definitely worked up my appetite, and it was a good way to prepare for the elegant dinner at Tosca di Angelo. Here amidst – yes, I’ll say it again – the best views of the sparkling skyline, you can embark on a gastronomic journey with the freshest seasonal produce from chef Angelo Aglianó’s kitchen. The dinner started with small bites of mini tart with smoked aubergine and peppered crab meat, followed by a presentation of Tosca’s selection of extra virgin olive oils from Tanto Quanto Basta from Sicily, Italy – in varying complexity and flavours – which goes with house-made sourdough bread that is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Dishes that came next surpass expectations.

Trapanesi Busiate with two kinds of red shrimp paired perfectly well with an exotic, pungent orange wine COS Rami Bianco 2019 (comes from south-east Sicily, 45 minutes from chef Angelo’s hometown) that smells like red wine with aromas of wet wood, mushroom, rocks, seaweed, meld into hints of honey and citrus on the palate.

Pan-seared turbot – served with green beans purée, spring onions confit, and slices of bottarga – paired with Masseria Li Veli 2019 Askos Verdeca, a bottle of crisp white wine from the Salento region of Italy that uses ancient Verdeca grapes, it carries tropical, citrusy, and minerally notes that goes well with the savoury flavours of the dish.

It’s the kind of dinner that you won’t easily forget, and while I can only wish to afford the dishes here on a regular basis, it’s definitely great for special occasions or intimate dates when you want to impress. Dishes at Tosca di Angelo range from over $300 and above with options for a five course full tasting menu, priced at $1,888 per person and additional $1,580 for wine pairing.

The Ritz-Carlton gym

In the morning, I sneaked in for a quick workout at the gym but since it was a bit foggy in the morning, views were not visible from the window. The Club Lounge serves a breakfast buffet from 6.30am to 10.30am, featuring a spread of fruits and salads and hot dishes like congee, dim sum, noodles, sausages, and an omelette counter. I just had lite bites because soon after breakfast, I booked a Ladies Wellness Therapy at the spa ($2,530 non-peak hours; $2,700 peak hours), which requires massages on the stomach area.

The Ritz-Carlton spa

The treatment was a 90-minute session specially designed for women. It consisted of a warming womb massage to improve blood circulation and ease menstrual discomfort, followed by a breast meridian massage that massages the breasts in a circular motion and then moves to the armpits and breastbone. The warm womb massage was comforting and very relaxing. The breast massage made me uncomfortable at first. It was a bit painful, but you’d feel that tension from the breastbone is relieved. After the treatment, you can stay at the spa’s resting area for a sip of hot tea while staring at the skyline of Hong Kong Island.

Best NYC Date Spots, According to Dating Connoisseur

July 16, 2021 by ADSWineReporter

It’s Friday night in New York City. Your best friend’s, sister’s, coworker’s, roommate’s ex-boyfriend just liked you on Hinge. You offer to pick the first date spot. Power moves only.

In a city so big, the world is your oyster.

Pro Tip: order oysters. It’s an immediate aphrodisiac.

See also: Ease Back Into In-Person Dating at Intersect By Lexus-NYC

We sat down with Lindsey Metselaar, creator of popular We Met At Acme podcast, centered around the do’s and don’ts of millennial dating. Below are her favorite date night spots in NYC from east to west.

Soho

Ear Inn

Cool and understated, Ear Inn on the corner of Spring and Washington is a perfect spot to grab drinks with the man of your dreams. The vibes at this bar and grill are super casual and grunge, which will show your date you’re the ‘chill girl who drinks beer’ type. This popular joint is right by the water, so take a stroll with your date and hopefully he’ll lean in for that first kiss!

Cafe Select

According to Lindsey, a French restaurant is always a safe bet because of the naturally romantic setting. The European rail-station-restaurant vibe will definitely spark conversation with your date. Don’t forget to check out the hidden fondue room in the back of this quaint Lafayette Street hub.

Raoul’s

Keeping with the French theme, Raoul’s is a great spot for a dimly-lit evening. Described as having a “bustling Parisian atmosphere,” this classic bistro is delicious and has a good vibe. Although Raoul’s has been a Soho landmark since the 70’s, it definitely still has game. Hopefully your date does, too.

Balthazar

The pressure is on when trying to plan a big anniversary. If the night isn’t picture-perfect, then the relationship is destined to fail (sarcasm, people). Balthazar is an iconic French brasserie very well suited for a special occasion. You and your significant other should split the famous steak frites. It’s like you’re in Paris together, but different.

Flatiron

Cosme

If you’re not into the whole French thing, Mexican is a great cuisine for a night out with your guy. It’s a little on the pricier side, so maybe don’t suggest this for the first date. Both the food and drinks are great, so you really can’t go wrong here. Plus, it’s always fun to have a few margs and spill your feelings about each other.

Cote Korean Steakhouse

Cote is New York City’s first Korean Steakhouse, and by far the best. With one Michelin Star and four dollar signs, this upscale Korean barbeque restaurant should be reserved for a very special occasion. Places where they cook the food in front of you is always a fun experience to share with somebody special.

Rezdôra

Handmade pasta and delicious red wine, what could possibly go wrong? Rezdôra’s intimate setting makes for a great third or fourth date. It’s romantic, but not too romantic, you know? If you and your date want to indulge in the food together, try the $90 Regional Pasta Tasting with a $55 optional wine pairing.

Chelsea

Raines Law Room

We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again, Raines Law Room in Chelsea is the chicest spot for drinks downtown. The semi-secret entrance gives off an aura of mystery you didn’t know you needed. This plush lounge serves prohibition-era cocktails, which will surely impress your date. Hopefully he’s nicer to you than Tom Buchanan was to Daisy.

Momoya

Consistency is key. Go to Momoya ten times in a row, and it will never disappoint. Sushi can sometimes be a gamble on a first date, but the most eligible bachelors are well-versed in toro and hamachi crudo. Split the spicy tuna crispy rice, and you are guaranteed to fall in love. Hopefully twice!

Sushi Seki

Three words. Spicy Scallop Handroll. If your date is a sushi lover, you absolutely must take him to Sushi Seki. Once again, this place is on the more expensive side, so we wouldn’t recommend for date number one. Order a lot of rolls for the table, because nothing is more attractive than girls who can eat.

West Village

Little Branch

Little Branch basically invented the speakeasy. Described as an “underground den of mixology,” Little Branch is the coolest spot to be. The best part about this underground gem is that the bartender will make you whatever drink you want. You can order your go-to gin and tonic, but we highly encourage you to experiment! The coolest girls aren’t afraid to take risks.

Dante

This West Village establishment is the best of both worlds. Dante is great for both casual drinks and a longer dinner, so you have the luxury of playing the night by ear. Order the famous Dante Martini at 6:00, and stay until the place closes if you’re having a great time! The spicy lamb flatbread is love at first sight.

Anton’s

Characterized as a “nostalgic New York cafe,” this West Village establishment is sure to bring on all the feels. Anton’s entire menu is inspired by old family recipes, which makes the food significantly better than trendy Italian places. The cozy old-school feel will make you want to get cozy with your date at the end of the evening.

East Village

Joy Face

This subdued throw-back bar is a great setting for a chill first date. The 1970’s themed bar has a type of cozy charm you don’t see very much anymore. Good vibes, good drinks, good music, and most importantly, good company. We love a place with a disco ball. It’s cute and kitschy, and perfect for your crush.

Yellow Rose

If Cosme is your fourth date, Yellow Rose should be your first. This San Antonio-style joint is great for tacos and tequila. It’s atmosphere is super unpretentious, which is perfect when you’re meeting somebody in person for the first time. If your date brings a yellow rose to this spot, run the other way.

Momofuku Ko

It’s fitting that this multi-course Asian-accented eatery is on Extra Place, because it really is extra. But in the best, most salivating way possible. Momofuku Ko is notoriously hard to get into, so put your Resy notifications on in advance and impress your love! There is no better way to celebrate a milestone than with David Chang’s $255 tasting menu.

Singapore Expands Tourism Offerings To Include A Luxury Tall Ship

July 15, 2021 by ADSWineReporter

Visiting Singapore one might choose to explore its heritage walking trails or a drive along to view the wonderful architectural sights around the island. With modern day Singapore one might forget that Singapore was (and still is) a bustling sea port and the best way to view the city is by her coastlines.

One of Singapore’s secret attraction includes The Royal Albatross, the ship sails around the Sentosa coastline where visitors will get to dine and bask in the beauty of the port, passing ships from all over the world and the picturesque reflections of the buildings from Singapore’s Central Business District at night. The choice of meals served on board are periodically changed and critically acclaimed by local travel sites and magazines; there is a choice to upgrade the standard 3-course menu all the way to a 6-course with wine pairing for a modest fee, so guests will be prepared to have their taste buds tickled and stomachs filled for the 2.5-hour sail.

The Royal Albatross is a premium luxury dining cruise experience on an open deck, surrounded by over 200 ropes that operate 22 large sails on 4 towering masts. Take pride in knowing that guests will be visiting one of less than 80 working tall ships in the World and that the Royal Albatross hosted multiple well renowned stars like Sir. David Foster, Mel C from the Spice Girls and even Princess Anne. With a little-known movie trivia, that the Royal Albatross; Asia’s only Luxury Tall Ship prior to its current luxury configuration was the same ship that was in the show the Dark Knight in the scene where the Russian Ballet was absconded. Also not forgetting that the wood used on board the ship is from vintage hard wood meticulously crafted by hand to create the lovely wood motifs on board.

The unique product offerings by the Royal Albatross includes a Rediscovery Breakfast Sail, a beautifully crafted Sunday Lunch, and their ever-popular Sunset Sail and City Lights Dinner Cruises that are often booked a month in advance for special occasions, weddings, proposals, birthdays, celebrations, romantic dates or just a night alone to enjoy the sea breeze and its awe inspiring and memorable sights. There are also activities that guests can partake on board the ship, such as an adrenalin pumping mast climb to work up that appetite or take the helm with the captain and see the modern technologies that go behind keeping our visitors safe while they enjoy the modern luxuries of the Royal Albatross.

The dinner sail experience won multiple awards over the years from TripAdvisor’s Traveler’s Choice to Singapore Airlines naming it as most romantic dinner cruise. Rightly so since the ship is renowned as the place to plan the perfect proposal under the stars at sea or just celebrate that special event in an outdoor alfresco style venue.

Extra steps have been taken to ensure that the Royal Albatross is ultra clean for all her visitors as it’s mandatory for all attractions in Singapore to have an SGClean Certificate. Visitors will get to enjoy the fresh sea breezes as the ship sails along the coastline with the open decks of the tall ship providing optimum ventilation for everyone on board.

The entire 2.5hr sail will give guests plenty of time to enjoy the sights and also plan in a full day of shopping. Just like recreating a private scene in Crazy Rich Asians. Want to find out more about Asia’s only luxury tall ship in Singapore? Visit tallship.com.sg to find out more.

Gourmet Food Service in Dover, NH Sends Chefs to Your House

July 14, 2021 by ADSWineReporter

A gourmet food services company that specializes in bringing high-end culinary experiences to people’s homes and venues has rejoined the Greater Dover Chamber of Commerce.

Chef Michael Pentasuglia is the owner of Michael’s Gourmet Food Services in Dover. Potential clients call his company and they set up a one-hour free consultation.

During that consultation, the type and extent of the service, date and time, menu choices, allergens, where specific work will occur and payment options are discussed.

Within three days, clients are presented with an estimated bill.

Depending on the event, a semi-formal contract may be required, according to the company’s website.

On their Facebook page, people can get a sense of who Pentasuglia and his team have worked with.

In 2019, they were working with Tuscan Market before they closed their site on Lafayette Road in Portsmouth to move to the center of Market Square.

Pentasuglia has been focusing on targeting personal clients. On-site specialized gourmet dinners for the family or special dates include a full menu and service.

High-end dinners can be created for up to eight friends or business associates.

Michael’s holds cooking classes and wine pairing classes in host’s homes for up to eight people altogether.

The company can also cater house parties of up to 20 people on any day except Sundays. If people want to have their food on Sunday, they can provide all the service and food set-up on Saturday.

“We strive to make an excellent meal of your choice in your home with as much or as little customer interaction as desired,” Pentasuglia said in a statement issued by the Chamber.

During an interview on Wednesday afternoon, Pentasuglia said he is hoping people will allow him to give them the full gourmet experience with all of the elegance that goes along with it.

July 13, 2021 by ADSWineReporter

The new must-watch show of the summer is starting tonight as Britain’s favourite celebrities battle it out to go from zero to hero in the kitchen – whipping up tantalising dishes that will leave viewers at home drooling and ready to re-create the recipes, cooking like a pro chef at home!

Hosted by double act Tom Allen and Emma Willis (set to be TV gold), the series will see some of the UK’s top stars in an epic battle of the frying pans as they fight to be crowned the first ever Cooking With The Stars champion.

Expect gripping scenes – and the occasional injury – as amateur chefs like Johnny Vegas and AJ Odudu take to the kitchen. But will they be able to handle the heat and make it through to the next round, or will they face the chop in the dreaded blind taste test?

Presenter Tom Allen revealed: ‘It’s a feel-good cookery competition featuring some very well-known celebrities alongside some of the nation’s best chefs. It’s got glitz and glamour and is as competitive as it gets!’

The show will see legendary chef and TV presenter Rosemary Shrager coaching Johnny Vegas, while Shirley Ballas swaps her dancing shoes for an apron as she’s mentored by culinary expert and regular chef on This Morning, Joseph Denison-Carey.

Meanwhile actress Catherine Tyldesley will also be looking to renowned chef Tristan Welch for inspiration in the kitchen as she joins the fray.

The stars will be cooking up mouthwatering recipes which YOU can re-create at home, including Korean food expert and TV chef Judy Joo’s delicious pan fried scallops and spring pea puree, and food writer and chef (owner of the famous Mowgli Indian street food restaurants) Nisha Katona’s fragrant gingerbread lamb chops

Under the watchful eye of their mentor, the celebs will whip up a restaurant worthy dish before facing the judgement of the professional chefs.

Emma Willis said viewers can expect fierce battles and rivalries between celebs, and their mentors, as they try to get their hands on the Golden Frying Pan trophy.

She explained: ‘The chefs wanted to win! There’s no messing with that. But they also wanted the celebrities to have fun and enjoy it.’

Meanwhile she teased that some of stars even add their own flair to the recipes, saying: ‘You can follow a recipe, and you can try and remember all the things they’ve taught you, but you have to go with your instincts.

‘AJ was amazing with that. She was like “it only says this much salt but I’m just going to put a bit more in”, and she would just freestyle.’

And even injuries won’t get in the way of the competitive spirit in the kitchen, with Emma joking Harry Judd ‘barely had any fingers left’ by the end of the competition.

She added: ‘He just kept cutting himself…The medic was on camera more than we were on that first day!’

The bottom two who fail to make the cut will then face the elimination round, with a sudden death dish that would leave even the most confident cook quaking in their apron.  Proper edge of the seat stuff!

They will be tasked with whipping up a meal without any guidance from their mentor before the judging panel decide who goes home in a blind taste test.

Two friends create something new after jobs with Toronto symphony put on pause

July 12, 2021 by ADSWineReporter

The Toronto symphony is still on pause as places like restaurants and even some smaller venues reopen indoors, but two musician friends found a new way to perform during their long months on hiatus.

While indoor dining is poised to reopen within the month, some Toronto Symphony Orchestra dates have still been rescheduled to next year for the third time.

Clare Semes and Kelly Zimba weren’t about to let a little pandemic stop them from performing, and they found a way to safely nurture their talents and bring the magic of music to people in Toronto.

Sonority Sisters is their violin and flute duo which started out headlining at parks and since then has been performing at intimate, distanced picnics, birthdays, anniversaries and weddings as well as virtual wine pairing events and holiday parties.

Principal Flute for the TSO Zimba is originally from Pittsburgh and has performed worlwide. Violinist Semes originally hails from Philadelphia, graduated with a Bachelor and Master’s degree from Juilliard, and has appeared as a soloist with multiple orchestras.

The friends met when they were training to become orchestral musicians as fellows at New World Symphony in Miami Beach, and they both won positions at the TSO in 2017.

“During the initial shut down of March 2020, we really missed playing music together and connecting with audiences,” Semes tells blogTO.

By the time warmer weather rolled around the following year and restrictions still weren’t lifting, they had decided to hit the parks. This summer, they’ve been doing it all over again.

“Like everyone in Ontario, we’re so excited that the weather is finally nice enough to get outdoors again, and that gathering limits are increasing,” says Semes.

“As musicians, our success is largely measured by the impact we have on our community.  In times like these when live music is scarce, we are grateful to have this outlet for musical expression and connection.”

In addition to all the kinds of events they’ve already played before, they’re open to any other kind of custom events, and you can get in touch with them through their website to book.
