New tasting rooms on the Carneros wine trail create an attractive getaway for locals and tourists alike

Carneros, Napa and Sonoma, CA, March 24, 2021 – The member wineries of Carneros Wine Alliance, a non-profit association of wineries and grape growers in the Carneros American Viticultural Area (AVA), will reopen their doors to visitors in spring 2021, offering a retreat for locals looking to stay close to home as well as a dynamic wine destination for travelers. The excitement surrounding the re-opening is amplified by the introduction of four brand new tasting rooms, the appointment of Anne Moller-Racke, Blue Farm Wines, as Chair Emeritus, and a revamped Carneros Wine Alliance website.
With over 10,000 planted vineyardwine. Though the past year has been a difficult one for many, several Carneros wineries have used mandated closures to expand their consumer offerings – designing and constructing new tasting rooms to welcome visitors. Among them are top wine producers in Napa and Sonoma Valley: Bouchaine, Cakebread Cellars, Migration Wines (opening this Memorial Day weekend), and ZD Wines.
These new tasting rooms feature cutting-edge technology, while maintaining the laid-back and inviting atmosphere that has become synonymous with Carneros AVA. While some of these new and improved establishments are not physically located within Carneros (including Cakebread Cellars and ZD Wines); these member wineries grow certain grape varieties in the AVA, allowing them the unique opportunity to share Carneros wines with those visiting other areas of Napa Valley.
Katie Griesbeck, VP of Marketing and Sales at Cakebread Cellars, remarks: “Amidst the hardships of this past year, the silver lining was the opening of several new tasting rooms in Carneros. We are very proud of our community that in equal parts produces award-winning Chardonnays and remains focused on agriculture and are most important asset – the land.”
Another new addition in the region relates to the board leadership of Carneros Wine Alliance, which has appointed Anne Moller-Racke, founder of Blue Farm Wines in Sonoma County, as Chair Emeritus. Moller-Racke reflects optimistically at the re-opening of Carneros: “This AVA has always been, and continues to be, a tenacious and quality-driven community. We look forward to welcoming guests – especially those in our own backyard – to see for themselves what makes Carneros so special, and ensuring the health and safety of visitors and our members.”
To allow both trade and consumers to learn more about Carneros and plan their visits, the Carneros Wine Alliance has redesigned the region’s website: carneros.com. The clean layout and user-friendly platform serves as a resource for visitors to explore places to stay, eat, and taste, supporting the region’s efforts to forge ahead with their commitment to sharing the exceptional terroir and grapes grown in the unique pocket straddling two of California’s most renowned wine regions.
