If you’re looking for a special and delicious way to celebrate with your sweetie for the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday, the Wilmington area has many of them.
Book a table at your favorite special-occasion restaurant, or book a room for some staycation romance. But many local businesses have also been getting creative in hopes of helping lovers commemorate the occasion, whether it is in person, or via delivery or to-go. Here are a few of them.

Pairing Dinner for Two
The Second Glass, at 1540 S. 2nd St. in the South Front district of Wilmington, is always a great spot for romantic wine, cocktails and food. This year, they are offering a pairing dinner, and until Sunday, Jan. 31, you have a chance to “WineandWin.” Dine there to be entered to win the Valentine’s meal for two.
Pink Baking Co., 4545 Fountain Dr. Wilmington, is accepting orders for the super-cute “You’re the Bomb” sets, with a hot cocoa bomb and a sugar cookie, and for larger Valentines Day treat boxes filled with a variety of treats.
Gourmet to Go & Catered Affairs at 105 W St George St. in Southport, is accepting orders for pickup or delivery for three meal options — prime rib, crab cakes and a ‘Tour of Italy’ bounty. The Cape Fear Yacht Club (4791 Fish Factory Rd SE in Oak Island) has a prime rib dinner with fixings available for curbside pickup. And Spoonfed Kitchen & Bake Shop (1930 Eastwood Road, Wilmington) has a treat boxes and a dinner-to-go menu with two four-course options, or a family-style barbecue chicken package.
Chocolate and Cupcakes
Rebeca Alvarado Paredes, pastry chef at manna (123 Princess St. in Wilmington), is flexing her chocolate skills again. A box of eight assorted chocolates, available for pre-order, includes Amarena cherry cheesecake, raspberry-rose, passionfruit, and double chocolate Oreo truffle. Or get the dozen assorted cupcakes. Pick up is available after noon on Feb.13.
Create-your-own ideal meal
Pine Valley Market at 3520 S College Road in Wilmington, has expanded their take-home offerings for people who want to heat-and-eat, or for those who want to cook a bit. On Valentine’s Day, look for heart-shaped crab cakes or extra-large 12-ounce center cut filets, as well as sides like asparagus, brussels sprouts, and twice baked potatoes. The market stocks locally and regionally made candies and toffees, and will have Valentine’s Day cookies from One Belle Bakery and “Burning Love’ ghost-pepper brownies from Imaginary Cakes.
Cheese and Flowers
The Cheese Board, at 119 S Water St. in Wilmington, is teaming up with Petals to the People for a package that includes a cheese board, a bottle of wine, bouquet of flowers and live music all weekend. Petals to the People is also offering bouquets that come with a bottle of local FeeBee’s honey.
The Gather & Graze, a local custom charcuterie business, is offering boxes for the holiday that include meat, cheese, dessert and Wilmington delivery. Collective Law is also taking orders for a board that’s available for pink up on Feb. 13 at Vestique in the Forum, 1125 Military Cutoff Road.
Blockade Runner Beach Resort has a couple of packages available for Valentine’s Day and the adjacent weekends. They include a sweet treat in your room, a wine-pairing dinner at EAST Oceanfront Dining and breakfast in bed, as well as other extras.
A special night out
Several local restaurants are hosting classic romantic dinners. Nineteen Restaurant at 513 Country Club Drive in Hampstead has a special three-course dinner available that week. Junction 421 at 5104 South College Road in Wilmington is hosting a dinner with Sterling Silver beef and Orin Swift wines on Feb. 9. And Steam Restaurant (9 Estell Lee Pl., Wilmington) has a four-course menu available Feb. 12-14.
Dinner and a movie
