LOCKDOWN means we are not able to go out and see friends, nip to the pub or enjoy a meal out. But it does not mean we cannot treat ourselves.
Warrington businesses have been quick to adapt and see opportunities for new and interesting delivery, takeaway and click and collect services. Here are just a few of them.
1. WHITE HART COCKTAILS
White Hart cocktails
Staying in is the new going out until lockdown lifts but you can still make it a big weekend thanks to The White Hart.
The Sankey Street pub has just introduced a cocktail delivery service, including glassware and garnish.
Strawberry woo woo, sex on the beach, porn star martini and wham bar sling sets can be delivered to homes in the WA1 WA2 WA3 WA4 and WA5 postcode areas.
The sets make four cocktails – and all include a bottle of Prosecco – for £25 with delivery included.
Neil Sparkes, owner of White Hart, said: “We had a few requests on Facebook for takeaway cocktails so we decided to get some staff back off furlough to try and launch delivery cocktails.
“The response so far has been overwhelming and we look forward to giving our White Hart regulars a little taste of the pub until we’re able to serve them in person again.
“The cocktail packs include everything they need to enjoy our great cocktails from the glassware, the cocktail mix, garnish and a bottle of Prosecco in each pack.
“We also have a special Valentine gift box coming soon including an afternoon tea option which we think will be very popular. We’re so grateful for the support from our customers in these tough times, we hope they enjoy their gift boxes.”
2. BREAKFAST FROM JESSIE’S PICK ‘N’ MIX
Former Birchwood High student Jessica Waltham set up her small business with her partner Ashley Abernethy in June 2020
Jessica, a working mum running two businesses, launched Jessie’s when she saw a gap in the market for a child-friendly dessert shop.
It was an instant success with the Jessie’s ‘box of dreams’ going viral.
The 26-year-old said: “We took the plunge to get a shop and have been building it since. I’ve always been an entrepreneur even from a very young age and we have been so well supported by the people of Warrington. We have huge plans for 2021.”
Jessica has now also introduced a breakfast delivery service with a difference. You can get everything from decadent treats like loaded pancakes, healthier options such smoothie bowls topped with granola and chia seeds or you can keep it classic with the likes of a bacon and egg breakfast muffin.
Jessie’s delivers all over Warrington on Saturdays and Sundays. Call 552330 for pre-orders.
3. SPIRIT RESTAURANT
Ribeye steak from Spirit
Warrington’s hidden gem in Victoria Park has recently launched ‘Spirit Home’.
The restaurant has teamed up with outside caterers Petrus Events to offer a two (£20) or a three (£25) course meal which is freshly prepared by the acclaimed Spirit team ready for you to finish off at home.
Mains on Spirit’s contemporary menu include the likes of tandoori butter chicken breast, slow cooked Persian lamb shank and 10oz rib eye.
A statement on Facebook said: “Everyone at Spirit would like to thank all our customers new and old for your continued support throughout these trying times, and we really do hope you have managed to stay safe and also sane.
“During this crazy period, we’ve had a bit of time to mull things over and have decided that if you can’t come to Spirit, we’re going to bring Spirit to you.
“We have been testing and experimenting with our ‘Home Spirit Menu’ with friends, family, and customers and are really proud of what has been achieved.
’So, if you’re ready to test out your culinary skills and re-create some of your favourite Spirit dishes all in the comfort of your own home all you need to do is email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 232527.”

4. DECENT DROP
This at-home cheese and wine pairing experience says it has seen a 600 per cent rise in sales in Warrington and Cheshire since the third lockdown.
Carl Peters, owner of Decent Drop, thinks this is mostly because many people ditched their plans to complete ‘dry January’ because of the restrictions and looked instead for experiences to boost their weekends.
Basically, six wines, paired with six cheeses are delivered and then you hop on an interactive Zoom tasting session where you can learn about the wines and the pairings.
Carl said: “Getting together with others has never been more important. Even though we can’t do that in person at the moment, Decent Drop offers customers a chance to engage in some form of socialising while being able to enjoy a new selection of delicious wines and cheeses.
“Our main aim with Decent Drop is to bring a wonderful experience to those who may not have tried this kind of thing before. We wanted to ensure an offering that was both fun and informative and could serve as a kind of ‘night out’ from your living room.”
